Crickets is a new preschool series based on the constructivist approach to learning and integrates all the domains of early learning. Crickets Nursety consists of 8 units with 8 lessons for the student and 8 pages of Teacher's Notes. Each lesson contains a variety of activity types that will help students develop cognitive skills. Each lesson focuses on a meaningful question created to engage students in exploring the world that surrounds them through open-ended, hands-on activities and games. Crickets Nursery's methodology is based on the natural approach, which allows students to engage in enjoyable activities while acquiring English. It promotes social and emotional development through different class activities and games. Crickets Nursely includes songs and rhymes that help children build their vocabulary, develop phonological sensitivity and increase verbal confidence. Initially, students are not expected to verbalize the vocabulary or structures, only comprehend. After this first phase, they will begin to produce words, at a rate that will vary from child to child. Crickets Nursely also includes activities that give children the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills. At that same time, the series engages students in activities such as pasting, popping out, coloring and finger-painting that will help them develop their fine motor skills. Student's Components and Resources The Student's Book contains 64 full-colored pages with a variety of fun activities designed to help them increase their knowledge of the world. It also features Holiday pages that introduce important festivities like Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Easter, and an end-of-the-year diploma for each student. Teacher's Components and Resources Teacher's Notes The Teacher's Notes contain 64 pages with easy-to-follow, step-by-step notes that allow teachers to easily understand the cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills to be developed.
